Psychotherapy

Lindsay Shapiro is a registered Social Worker and has been working in the field of Health and Mental Health for the last 10 years. Lindsay’s experience includes working at The Toronto General Hospital in the Eating disorders unit, working in the Addictions and mental health field including working at The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health in Toronto, Bellwood Health Services and Homewood Health Services in Guelph. Lindsay has a vast amount of experience in working with individuals and groups with addiction issues, trauma, anxiety, depression and eating disorders. Lindsay also works with individuals who are going through life changes, relationship issues, loss and grief. Additionally, Lindsay participated in running the Family program at Bellwood Health Services and facilitated both family and couples counselling during that time.

Education

Lindsay graduated from York University obtaining a Specialized Honours degree in Psychology. Her post-graduate training includes a Masters in Social Work where she specialized in Health and Mental Health. Additionally Lindsay is a Registered Holistic Nutritionist who believes that Health is Holistic that includes mental, physical and spiritual elements.

Lindsay’s Philosophy

Lindsay believes that individuals can have a healthier and more enjoyable life if they chose to. Lindsay believes that her role as a Psychotherapist and a Nutritionist is to give people the tools to improve their lives based on their individual goals. Lindsay believes that when people are able to learn new positive coping skills, strategies and techniques they are often able to make long term healthy changes.

Lindsay belongs to The Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Services workers (registration # 817869) as well as with the Ontario Association of Social Workers.

Nutritionist

Lindsay Shapiro is a Registered Holistic Nutritionist. Lindsay looks at the whole person including nutrition, lifestyle and stressors to customize a tailor made plan for each individual. Lindsay does not believe in extreme diets or unrealistic eating plans. Lindsay believes that when individuals feel that small changes are manageable they stick with them. Lindsay supports people in making healthier lifestyle changes while giving each individual the tools to do so.

Lindsay has worked for Whole Foods in Toronto, CanPrev Supplement Company as well as Equilibrium Nutrition. Additionally Lindsay has run her own private Nutritional consulting business for the last 8 years. Lindsay can help individuals to reach their health goals through education and counselling. Some of the areas of concentration include: weight loss, improve energy, insomnia, anxiety and eating disorders,

Lindsay works with a wide array of people with different health issues and nutritional goals.

How many sessions will I need?

It’s difficult to say exactly how many sessions an individual will need depending on their goals and at what sort of pace they would like to pursue these goals. On average a person can reach their goals in 6-8 sessions as well as booking monthly or bi-monthly sessions for maintenance.

What is the Cost?

Each session is 50 min and between 180-230$ per session. E transfer, cash or cheque. Receipt provided for each session.


Is this covered by OHIP or Insurance?

This service is not covered by OHIP but may be covered by most extended health insurance packages.
